Quilt Show Day 3--A Day with CELEBRITIES

Wow, what a wonderful day at the quilt show! Most of you know that Christina and I are HUGE fans of Eleanor Burns and she was one of the reasons to come to the Long Beach Quilt Show. Well, today we got to acutally meet and talk to her more than once. She was so sweet and really took time to visit with us even though there were many people waiting to see her. We also gave her pictures of our Quilts from her book Egg Money Quilts and she signed our copy. We were like little kids. She also liked our F.A.R.T. bags alot. Right down from Eleanor's booth, I was looking at some wonderful quilt patterns and realized they were done by Patrick Lose. Another favorite designer of mine. As I was telling Kathy how much I liked his whimsical creativity, she turned and told me he was standing next to me. I did not believe her and with buckling knees, I tapped him on the shoulder and when he turned around, sure enough, it was him. He actually talked with me for awhile and Christina and I both got some of his books (which he signed). What great people. Patrick, if your counter sends you here to my blog, let me know when your new embroidery designs are ready! We also managed a trip to the Queen Mary docked not far from the convention center. Back on the road to Phoenix in the morning. Carole

Day 2 Long Beach QUILT SHOW

We had another very busy day at the Quilt Show. We are all happily tired and ready to rest up for tomorrow. Christina and I are especially excited that tomorrow we get to meet our favorite quilter, Eleanor Burns. We also became "celebrities" in our own right today as we were interviewed by Quilt.com because of our original Quilt show F.A.R.T. bags. (Fabric Acquisition Road Trip). We also had on shirts we had each done. It was very funny and people were walking by and taking our pictures. I think the video stream will be on their website in a week or so. We will check in tomorrow. Carole

Long Beach Quilt Show

The four of us have arrived in Long Beach for the Quilt Show. Doors open at 5PM. We had a good trip in and stopped at M & L Fabrics on the way. More fabric than I've ever seen!

A Birthday Quilt

One of my best friends is turning "50" this week and I've had to work frantically to get a quilt done for her. I think the bright colors will be a step away from all her "neutralness" and being 50 years old we all need to step outside our regular box once in awhile. I do really hope she will like it and think of me when she throws it over her lap this winter. This is one of my favorite designs to do as I love to play with all the bright colors and whimsical shapes. It is from the book "Cut-Loose Quilts" by Jan Mullen. I hope to one day do all the quilts in this book. Looking forward to Thursday and a trip to Long Beach for the Quilt Show with Christina, Tammy and Kathy. Now time to get some work done! Carole

DISNEYLAND ADVENTURE

We are back from our 6 day adventure to Disneyland/California Adventure. It was a great time with the kids. This was Jayden's first trip and it was amazing to see him react to all of the different surroundings. Big sister Aleyah took him on many rides and I think she enjoyed seeing him laughing and smiling as much as we did. His favorite ride was Splash Mountain which we rode over and over again every single day. He always laughed when they showed the "bears butt" trying to get through the small hole with the rabbit pushing him. Then down the steep plunge to the singing of Zippity Do Dah. I will post more photo's later. Carole
